The Kevin Files · Story 020
A Tie, Two Eyes, and a Senior Director
HIMstrata employees have begun decorating the status monitor of newly promoted Senior Director Kevin with googly eyes and a paper necktie, marking what coworkers described as a significant improvement in the automated script's executive presence.
The decorations were installed by Developer Marcus Lee, who said Kevin should look appropriately surprised by his promotion.
"I thought he deserved a reaction," Lee explained.
Billing clerk Dana Mitchell added the tie after observing that Kevin appeared underdressed for senior management.
By Tuesday, employees from several departments had stopped by the server room to see the display.
Photographs circulated through the company's internal chat.
Executive Vice President Craig Haddock visited during the afternoon and laughed.
"I have to admit, that's pretty good," Haddock said.
Facilities confirmed that the decorations did not interfere with the equipment and could remain.
No formal recognition event was planned.
The googly eyes shift slightly whenever someone brushes the monitor’s rolling stand.
Employees have taken to describing this as Kevin reviewing his responsibilities.
Dana said the eyes looked particularly expressive whenever someone mentioned the budget.
The tie remains slightly crooked.
Marcus has declined to straighten it. “He looks more approachable this way.”
